In 1966, Bob Dylan released his seventh album “Blonde on Blonde”. Bob also succeed with this album. And this album was also getting big hit. Especially, from this album, “Just Like Women” was ranked number 33 of “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine. In those period, I think Bob Dylan was in golden age in his career, however, on 29 Jul. 1966, Dylan crashed in Woodstock, New York. And he injured and it was long rest. So his golden age, “with electric back-up band” is ended with this motorcycle accident. June 28, 2010 1 Comment

I am going to write about Bob Dylan. So I will research about his songs and information by some books and CDs. But I also want to research about other musicians because they have some information about Bob Dylan. For example, I also want to research about Woody Guthrie. Because Bob Dylan’s music have been influenced very much by Woody Guthrie’s music. Woody Guthrie is protest folk singer in America and his songs are very old (he was born in 1912). But Bob Dylan often said that Woody Guthrie is a only hero. So I also want to research about Woody Guthrie. Of course, I will mainly research about Bob Dylan.

By the way, do you know anything about Bob Dylan? I think he is very famous, so at least I think you must know only his name, or his famous songs, like “Like a Rolling Stone”. “Like a Rolling Stone” is a good number in his discography, however, the reason why I choose this topic is that I was impressed by his other CD, called “Good as I Been to You”. This was released in 1992, so as his long music career, “Good as I Been to You” was released after he had passed his peak. But I think this is really good album in his music career. In America, there are many old traditional songs. In this album, Bob Dylan covered some of those with only acoustic instruments (only guitar, harmonica, and his voice). Of course all of songs in this album are so simple because all songs are American traditional numbers, but they are so powerful.
I like music very much. And now I am interested in some of English songs’ lyrics. So I am going to research about Bob Dylan, and others my favorite artists’ songs’ lyrics in this class. Now I am not able to understand his songs’ lyric well because I can’t understand English perfectly. But I will try to understand music perfectly.

Yesterday I had changed my theme, so today I will introduce about new theme on this post.
※※※
I am interested in lyric of some songs from my favorite musicians. Their names are Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson and Wilco (This is rock band, not person’s name). Their music are really cool, but I don’t know their lyrics well because they always using English. So I want to research about their songs’ lyric deeply (or some of their songs’ lyrics). Especially, now I am interested in Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie because I feel that their styles are very strange and interesting. Perhaps I will introduce each of musicians and their songs little by little.
